Character Name: Senji "Crow" Kiyomasa
Canon: Deadman Wonderland
Age: 26
Appearance: Tall with mild dark skin, athletic (muscular) build with severed right arm and an eye patch over his right eye and the initials "DSMK" tattooed over his eyebrow - he has gray hues
Canon Point: Chapter 51
How will your character react to the initial night period?:
Senji will not be taken aback by the nature of the night. He will neither be threatened nor scared that everything has turned demented and is out to kill him. During his time spent Deadman Wonderland, everyday might have been one's last. It's harsh, inhumane nature has desensitized Senji considerably to the idea of being killed. He will willingly bear his fangs in battle and fight to survive. Often in Deadman Wonderland he would have to assert his power and dominance to climb the food chain and is coarse because of it. Furthermore, Senji is that of a thrill seeker who does enjoy a good, challenging fight. The night will more than likely excite him over anything else and encourage him to face it head on.
History: Wikia
Personality:
Eight years prior, when Senji was a police officer (though a tad unorthodox, which caused rampaging against police) who was righteous about being heroic and relied upon. Because of his branch of sin, he had powers others did not; of his colleagues, Senji did most of the dirty work of setting criminals right and apprehending them. Enough to the point where it got to his head. Domon, his superior left him behind when Senji was addressed in a threat letter. Essentially he was put down and implied to be a kid. When he eventually caught up with them, he found them battered, dismembered, and dead. All except for Domon who barely held on. During these moments Senji came to the realization that it wasn't them who relied on him, but rather the other way around (they protected him.) Domon told him that it's a "child's privilege to rely on someone." For most of the series Senji had forgotten this and treated Ganta more harshly then he should have because it was Ganta's privilege to rely on him. Senji developed the mind set that its an adult's specialty of acting cool, which more or less implies to be relied on.
Senji is by no means a hero, and he shouldn't be mistaken for one. Many of his actions carried out were actions for his benefit. Initially he wasn't even going to help Ganta become stronger, at least not until Ganta told him that he wished to be stronger to protect the people he cares about. It was that reasoning Senji even agreed (part of when he forgotten a child's privilege) but most of all, it was because Ganta never gave up. One particular quote of his regarding this was: "Righteousness will always be the trap at the gates of hell, get it?" and example of this is when the remainder of Scar Chain had asked Senji to join them so they would have better chances of succeeding they were harshly turned down. Senji stated: "Hell no! This place is crazy?! Outside's no different! Killing, lying, only the strong survive. Your perfect world just doesn't exist. If you didn't group together, you couldn't survive? If you tell me that, I'll tell you If you're weak, don't show your fangs." The only reason he was even there to begin with was because Undertakers (enemies of Deadman) were present and Senji was simply seeking a strong opponent to battle. His motivation was to have a challenging fight, not to help the Scar Chain and save them from being killed off. More often, he doesn't want to be relied upon and accept responsibility for the life another. He didn't want to rely on others either. Up until Ganta influenced him, he lived for himself, fought for himself, and only cared about himself. He will not go out of his way to save someone.
Senji is a little better about this than he use to be. He will, at the very least, team up with fellow deadman in battle to defeat enemies because they are on league with him. He has very little patience for the weak, or people who slow him down, Senji doesn't tolerate pulling the weight of others. During the retrieval of the chorus boxes (to help weaken/kill the Wretched Egg) when Yogusa accompanied him and Ganta, her lack of stamina slowed them considerably. Senji boldly voiced his opinion: "Hurry up! How did you survive until now!" and "Just rest up! It's because of you that we are late, you weak girl!" Another example if when (after the rest of the deadman were under the impression Ganta had betrayed them, and Shiro set them right - regarding Azami and Forgeries) Senji stepped up, realizing he was in the wrong and not Ganta his excuse for showing up was that he was just "passing by."
One of his more prominent traits, is his desire to improve. Senji is known for being a muscle head, generally you can find him working working out (building muscle), and training his techniques. Senji has been described as: "An athletic musclebound idiot. There are rumors that even his cock is completely made of muscle…" He greatly enjoys fighting and testing his limits, to the point where he tends to get arrogant about it. Carnival Corpse (a game where two Deadman fight until one cannot anymore, or dies) forcibly, to an extent since he enjoyed it, to fight senselessly for the entertainment of others. The only person he confessed to losing was Toto (then Ganta) and was notorious for winning them among the other deadman. Against his fight with a Forgery (fake deadman) he went as far as belittling them and told them "...I'll teach you the end of the world called Kiyomasa Senji"With strength and independence that he had formed since coming to Deadman Wonderland, Senji was never mentioned to ally with other people. After being tried guilty up until he got close to Ganta, Senji lived without bonding with anyone. (Which explains his crude nature of putting down pack mentalities and those who depended on others.) While Senji may be rash, with less than hero morals (ie not protecting/saving the weak) he isn't completely heartless. He chose not to kill Ganta even when he could have. When Ganta beat him in the Carnival Corpse match--and he's always eager for a Carnival match.
Since taking up residence in Deadman Wonderland, Senji has been notably desensitized to most things that would alarm others. Such things include the inhumane nature Deadman Wonderland and how they treat their prisoners. Such as subjecting them to things in the carnival for profit which can be an array of things. One thing shown in canon is the dog race that had more than two dozen inmates die. Again with Carnival Corpse that deliberately pit two deadmans together in a brutal fight for the amusement of others. Penalties for losing this game in particular require you to gamble which part of your body will be taken for research. When Senji lost his fight against Ganta in the Carnival game, he subjected himself to lose his right eye. Up until his eye was forcibly gouged out (it did cause a lot of physical pain) he was calm about it. Knowing the nature of Deadman Wonderland, Senji fully understood how normal it was, and thus wasn't fazed about losing his right eye. This was also presented after Senji's fight with Hagire when Hagire had cut up most of his right arm, leaving it to be a stub. When Ganta expressed shock about it, Senji insisted it was fine as long as he took pain killers (especially since Ganta was why he even made it out alive) and went as far as comparing himself to Tange Sazen (a Japanese swordsman who didn't have a right eye or right arm.) Showing the same lack of concern like he did with his eye.
Under normal circumstances, Senji can interact with women without incident; however, should this woman wear anything remotely immodest or pose lewdly with sketchy/revealing clothing he freaks out. He will instantly become flustered and address the problem by offering his jacket, telling them wear something more appropriate, or poorly explain why they should wear something else: "No, the white coats...something about them!" When Minatsuki flashed her underwear, and he got a front row view of Shiro's bottom region (in her body-tight suit) his nose erupted with blood and he blacked out (for those moments.) If these immodesties aren't too bold, he can and will come out of his panic back to his assertive, violent demeanor.
Senji has a strong will to live, even through immense blood loss and severe enough injuries that would kill anyone else, he was able to stand up and fight for several minutes after, receive more injuries and battle Hagire and his two assistants. Senji's strong will likely stems from his desire of wanting to stay alive that gradually grew during his stay in Deadman Wonderland, on of the most dangerous places to reside. Their unorthodox procedures that treated prisoners out to be more or less cattle prone to slaughter for the entertainment of others. Despite their harsh setting, he went unscathed, for the most part.
Strengths:
Being a deadman, Senji surpasses that of an average human. He can tolerate considerable amounts of pain and damage that would due any normal human in. Because of the cruel living arrangements of Deadman Wonderland, Senji's high tolerance for pain he is able to brush it off almost as if it never happened. In more serious inflictions he battles on anyway where the wound barely compromises him and his techniques. When knocked down, he either quickly springs back or doesn't stay down for long. Anemia doesn't appear to slow him and he recovers fairly quick. In addition to that, Senji has fast movement. Despite his mass, he can attack in a flash with things like punches and kicks and can evade attacks with reasonable success. Senji is quite literally a force to be reckoned with.
